Have been busy lately setting up my Facebook variant of this site, but I’ve still be taking shots. Here’s one of the shadows cast by the New York Times building around Midday.
I love the striped pattern, and want to send a small flashmob of people to run down the street and play hopscotch in the light.

Took a quick trip up to Boston this weekend, because the absence was a wee bit too much to take, and because hey there’s life outside your apartment.
Wandered a bit, then watched too much TV, then wandered a bit more. And ate. Quite a bit. Then got home and crashed. A nice relaxing weekend.

So here I was on Sunday, sitting in my apartment, staring out the window at the bright, crisp blue sky. The light was streaming into my apartment, and I took a few photos of that. But I couldn’t help staring out the window, looking at the way the world just gleamed.
…
And then I couldn’t stay inside anymore.
First, a walk through East Harlem…

Followed up by a stroll in my old stomping grounds, the Lower East Side…

Ended with candy, lots and lots and lots and lots of candy…

It was a good walk, but then as the sun went down the temp dropped, and my knees, my hips, all of my body decided I’d done enough for one day, and I hobbled home to visit my parents…

Getting active on the photos again… Here’s a revisiting of the “Change of Heart” photo I posted late last year. Anna gets credit for pointing out that having copper pennies in the shape might look more interesting, so since I had enough pennies finally to fill it and the light was interesting today in the apartment…
clink clink clink, snap snap.

This is a multiple post, because it was a long week and weekend, and there are some images to share.
First, its great what you’ll see in NYC some days…

And the busking in NYC Subways never gets old..

Oh, and since this was a holiday weekend, there were houseguests, some exploring of the city, and a party….
The full flickr gallery of photos from the weekend is of course, over here.
Enjoy, and welcome to 2010!

There were ups. There were downs. The high points were very high though. For me, 2009 was a significant year of change.
Like any year, there were low points, but I choose not to dwell on them tonight. Instead, I’ll think about the high points.
My birthday present to myself was spending my first night in my new apartment. Had two housewarming parties. Met new people. Got caught in the rain repeatedly, and had no objections.
Learned that everything in life is only for now. Good or bad.
Much of the year is a blur of good food, good friends, frills, rain, and a general bemused haze of giddiness.
I leave you with a wish I made this morning on Facebook.. A Happy New Year to you all. Look not to the year that has past but to the year that is to come, and all the opportunities it brings with it!

We’re past the hump, and the days will only start to grow longer now.
I’m doing ok! How are you? “For now we’re healthy, for now we’re employed, for now we’re happy, if not overjoyed, and we’ll accept the things we cannot avoid… for now…”
Anyway, 1/2/2010 – Saturday after New Years Day, the Day After… Potluck lunch and dinner hangout day at my place in Harlem! Videos, games, food, but most importantly, good company. Daytime party, so folks have the option of going out on the town in the evening.
Ping me here if you want to know the details. Space is limited! XD

So I woke up at 7am today, no alarm or anything, just randomly woke up. I staggered out of bed, took a look outside, and decided that I couldn’t leave it alone, it absolutely required a walk outside with the cameras to play.
Gallery of my 90 minute walk here.

Afterwards, Hot chocolate was absolutely called for… And then I fell asleep in the beanbag chair for two hours. ^_^;;

First, my apartment’s first (chibi) Christmas Tree!
Used her shoulders for a tripod – which made it all the more amusing! XD

Rumbling right along the December rush. Both work and life are going to be fighting for my attention, and this week alone is going to be pretty busy..
Poker this past weekend was kind to me, rough to others. Any short-handed poker session that hands me three pocket Aces, two pocket kings, and other assorted prime cards is a good session – especially in comparison to the way I’ve BEEN trending recently. Came out making about 150% of my buy-in. Wrapping up at 6AM was fun, albiet tiring… Slept away sunday.
Anyway, not here to talk about that.
Saturday, 1/2/2010 – Daytime potluck party at my place. Bring something fun to eat, share with anyone else who comes by. I’ll make something as well, sho’nuff. Expect food, music, casual lounging, and frozen patio action during the day. XD
As for the evening, there are no specific plans. This way anyone who wants to brave the holiday weekend crowds to hit the city for a night on the town have the option of doing so.
No crash space folks, sorry but all available spots are already occupied!
More details to follow over the next few days, but ping me if you are interested. Let there be food….

Party anyone? :)
Took a nice long weekend, something I haven’t done over Thanksgiving for a long while. Following the theory that if you weren’t there for it, you probably won’t find it interesting, I’ll sum up.
Late night trip to Chinatown, warm company, warm food, wild drunken turkey, bread pudding (yum), takoyaki, more cooking, Futurama, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Up, music videos, dresses & frills, pigs with hats, fresh baked cookies & milk, speed lines, kissing frogs, princesses, lazy mornings, and chocolate cups of tasty. Its a pretty blur.
There’s more but no need to get into it. Monday’s here now, its raining but I’m staying stress-free.
Photos another day.
